Rehoboth Beach 2011 Autumn Jazz Festival

Five days of great jazz by the sea!

Rehoboth Beach’s smoothest autumn event returns for its 22nd year as the 2011 Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival touches down October 12-16 throughout various locations in the town.

Wednesday, October 12: The annual jazz celebration is kicked-off 8 p.m. at the Rehoboth Convention Center with the 1^st Annual Beebe Medical Center “Music for the Cure” Fundraiser for Cancer and Heart Health Initiativesr. headlining the event will be Grammy-nominated jazz band, the Rippingtons with opening show "Jazz Gets the Blues" featuring featuring Brian Simpson, Nick Colionne, Steve Cole, Jeff Golub and Matt Marshak.

Thursday, October 13: At 8 p.m., singer/guitarist Norman Brown and saxophonist Richard Elliot hit the Rehoboth Convention Center stage with special guest, Mindi Abair.

Friday, October 14: The weekend begins with the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival's Happy Hour hosted and sponsored by Timothy's Restaurant on at 5 p.m. featuring sax extraordinaire, Marcus Anderson. At the Epworth Church, catch Tom Netherton's "Music, Memories and Laughter" at 7:30 p.m. At the Convention Center, contemporary jazz quartet, Fourplay, performs with special guest, Steve Cole at 9 p.m. The Clear Space Theatre hosts "a Late Night Jam" with Gerald Veasley and Friends at 10:30. To cap the night off, Casa Dileo hosts Jeff Golub for the after show party beginning at 11 p.m.

Saturday, October 15: Saturday gets rolling at 11 a.m. with the RBJF Family Convert on The Bandstand. At 1 p.m., The Smooth Jazz All-Stars show takes place at the Convention Center. The Epworth Church hosts Veasley's Tribute to Stevie Wonder at 2:30 p.m.. Phil Taylor and Golub perform "Close Up" at the Clear Space Theatre at 4 p.m.. Joey Summerville's trumpet acts as the soundtrack for RBJF Happy House at Timothy's at 5 p.m. Epworth Church then hosts "Smooth R&B Jazz" at 7 p.m. featuring Marshak, Marcus Anderson and The Urban Jazz Coalition. at 9:30 p.m., "Jazz Attack" at the Convention Center features Gerald Albright, Rick Braun and Peter White. At 10:30, catch "A Late Night With.." Mindi Abair, Nick Colionne and Brian Simpson at the Clear Space Theatre. Saturday concludes at 11 with Matt Marshak and Shilts at Casa Dileo

Sunday, October 16: On the final day, the 2011 Super All-Star Smooth Jazz Grand Jam fills the Convention Center at 2 p.m. Timothy's hosts the Closing Party at 6:30 p.m. featuring Featuring..... The Urban Jazz Coalition with special guests Matt Marshak, Shilts, and more surprise artists.
