"Sea Colony in general, and the oceanfront high rises in particular, are great. I have rented oceanfront condo units there several times, and always enjoyed them very much. The beach is beautiful and wide, the fitness center and exercise classes are very good, and the multiple outdoor and two indoor pools and excellent tennis facilities are also significant pluses. Bethany Beach is one of the calmer, more attractive and family-oriented options along the Delaware/Maryland shore, with a cute little downtown and good restaurants in a range of prices. But it is also an easy drive to the more frenetic Rehoboth and its many excellent restaurants and outlet shopping.

It is my favorite rental so far, particularly because it has such a phenomenal, broad view of the beach and ocean, and a very wide frontage along the ocean and a long balcony to enjoy the view from. The unit itself is nicely furnished and clean, with a full-size washer and dryer, high-speed internet service, and a ground floor storage closet for beach equipment. "We have vacationed at Sea Colony for the last three summers, and will be back next year. We had grown up vacationing at the New Jersey shore. We had vacationed at the Outer Banks of NC and have visited the Mass. beaches. We really enjoy the family atmosphere at Sea Colony.

"Every Wednesday, there is a sand castle contest at the beach. The kids get prizes at the bonfire on the evening of the contest. There are very nice small, secluded pools at every small grouping of rentals at the Tennis community. Also, there are crafts, pools and food/snacks at the deck on the beach.

"They have shuttles to the beach from the tennis faciliites, making these rentals very affordable for a family friendly beach vacation. When my kids were little, we used the shuttles a lot. Now, we bike to the beach and use the shuttles when the kids are tired.

"For us, it is all about the rental selection. We have rented from a number of different rental agencies and have received okay service from all of them. Therefore, the best rentals we have had, have given us a lot of pictures of the rental on their site. Also, Seacoast Rentals (ed. -which merged with ResortQuest in May) have a map of the community on their site that is essential.

"My kids are now 6 years old. Last year we did a little tennis with them at the tennis facility. My kids will be taking tennis lessons this year. This is a first class tennis facility that you must take advantage of if you like tennis.

"Additionally, it is really close to Ocean City MD. My kids really enjoyed our day at Ocean City for our dose of the lights, broadwalk, games and noise. (obviously, I would prefer this type of things in smaller doses)

"There are nice restaurants in the strip mall at the entrance of the tennis rentals. This is nice for families to eat a nice meal (and mom can have a glass of wine or two) and walk back to your rental. It is important to note that this is a VERY safe environment. There were always staff members driving around, available for assistance if needed. This is a very pedestrian community. Additionally, there is a small but nice shopping area in downtown Bethany. There are also some nice restaurants in downtown Bethany.
